News- Florida Tourism Affected by Oil Spill-Despite no Oil on the Shores

Figures from Florida’s Panhandle hotels and businesses reported over a fifty percent drop in business, despite this being their busiest season. With the media frenzy of the oil spill reaching international heights, many holidaymakers are cancelling their reservations in fear the oil has reached the shores, or may do so during their holiday.

Stop making those cancellations travellers, as Florida’s beaches remain unspoilt for the near future. Scientists are even debating whether it will reach the shores, or have a limited impact on Florida’s beaches. Yet if you still have reservations about your Florida holiday, visit one of the other Sunshine States’ many attractions!

1. Kennedy Space Centre- Visit the birthplace of America’s space program and delve into its history, chat with astronauts, or wander around the vast expanse of the Rocket Garden! Time your trip right and you can witness one of the shuttle or rocket launches. Book soon though as these are scheduled to end! For more information see http:// www. kennedyspacecenter.com

2. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studios Orlando- Harry Potter enthusiasts can see their imaginations come alive at Universal’s new attraction. Try your skills at duelling with dragons, wander through Hogsmeade, or explore Hogwarts Castle!

3. St Augustine’s- History buffs can enjoy Florida’s perennial sunshine whilst exploring one of America’s oldest towns. Attractions include the oldest schoolhouse in America, winery tours, and shopping around the historic district.
